Eager to serve the neurologic and pediatric patients in the greater Atlanta region while gaining experience and improving my therapeutic techniques.
- Attended a one-week stroke camp in a rural, underserved Jamaican village. - Administered several outcome measures including the TUG, 10M Walk Test and 3M Backwards Test independently. - Provided PT services targeted at improving patients' balance, gait, upper extremity function, and functional independence. - Learned and implemented both seated and standing Tai Chi skills to improve body awareness and balance.
Facilitated lectures and laboratory in the Adult Neuro-Rehabilitation Complex for class for second-year Doctor of Physical Therapy students. Gave a three-hour lecture on the history, etiology, pathophysiology, examination and treatment of Parkinson's Disease. Also, coordinated a patient with Parkinson's Disease to participate as a guest speaker.
Evaluated, treated, and developed individual plans of care for pediatric patients with a variety of neurologic and musculoskeletal impairments in the outpatient setting. Conducted an in-service for the Physical Therapy Department to educate them on the Functional Movement Screen and its role in the pediatric rehabilitation setting.
Evaluated, treated, and developed individual plans of care for patients with musculoskeletal impairments in the outpatient setting. Provided an in-service presentation to Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Departments to educate staff on the Functional Movement Screen.
Evaluated, treated, and created individualized plans of care for pediatric to adult-age patients with varying medical diagnoses. Created an orientation manual to be sent to incoming clinical students which included helpful information about the rotation, hospital and patient populations. Conducted an in-service presentation for the Rehabilitation Department covering the topic of Conversion Disorder.
